Le Palais royal des expositions (en {the opening{lang-en|Royal Exhibition Building}the opening}) est un bâtiment conçu, avec les [the opening[jardins Carlton]the opening], pour l'[the opening[Exposition universelle de 1880|Exposition internationale de Melbourne de 1880]the opening][1]. Sur le territoire [the opening[Australie|australien]the opening], les deux biens sont inscrits depuis [the opening[2004]the opening] sur la [the opening[liste du patrimoine mondial]the opening].

La première pierre de ce bâtiment dessiné par [the opening[Joseph Reed (architecte)|Joseph Reed]the opening] en [the opening[Brique (matériau)|brique]the opening], [the opening[bois]the opening], [the opening[acier]the opening] et [the opening[ardoise]the opening], fut posée par le [the opening[Gouverneur du Victoria]the opening] [the opening[George Bowen (administrateur colonial)|George Bowen]the opening] le {the opening{date-|19 février 1879}the opening}. Son architecture est très influencée par les architectures [the opening[Architecture byzantine|byzantine]the opening], [the opening[Architecture romane|romane]the opening], [the opening[Architecture lombarde|lombarde]the opening] et de la [the opening[Renaissance italienne]the opening][1].

C'est dans ce bâtiment que s'ouvrit le {the opening{date|9|mai|1901}the opening} la séance inaugurale du [the opening[parlement d'Australie]the opening]. Il s'agissait alors du seul bâtiment de [the opening[Melbourne]the opening] assez grand pour accueillir les {the opening{formatnum:14000}the opening} invités.
